Artist Space Statement

Beginning this project there was no definite vision or expectation of what the final video would be. It simply started out as capturing a space of no specific significance, but soon after a couple of shots you really envision the possibilities of the what final video would look like. At first shooting random people feel weird and you would notice that the people seeing camera and taking a double look or trying to avoid being in the shot. The place that we choose to shot was of the lobby of Hunter College, where the concession stand is. At the first idea of making a conceptual video from this location was going to be difficult. The video began to become more of a commercial advertising the lobby of Hunter College. Showing the amenities of this lobby has to offer. When shooting I used the technique of zooming in slowly as most of my shots as transition in Segway into another similar shot. This lobby offered coffee, several things to go with the coffee such as sugar, milk, and a wide variety of pastries. This space mostly offered quiet and solace it was if this was library but with no sound. The combined sound didn’t really a significant amount that it was noticeable. This place it was either people by themselves or people in small groups of two or three.
