Field Trip

I couldn’t join the excursion with the class because of class so I had to go by myself. After getting lost I finally found myself to at the Museum.  At the Museum of Moving Images I found the exhibition “Light, Camera, Astoria” really interesting. The exhibition was mainly focused on the history of Astoria Studio complex.  The Astoria Studio complex was the main outlet of filmmaking in New York City since the 1920. The reason why I found this so interesting is because it showed media over a vast majority of time. The exhibit made me realize all the works that goes into films, after editing project in class are time consuming to fathom the large amount of work that goes into a film not only that but also the scenes and directions of films that the viewer doesn’t get to see in the final form of the films or even sitcoms. The museum in general is just an amazing place to be. For anyone interested in media of find entertaining this museum is like porn for your eyes.

Sound Walk

I did my sound walk in Columbus Circle, because it just happen to be the most convenient neighborhood at the time. At first this task was difficult because in this digital age I feel like we are slaves to cell phones. So I’d started the sound walk and mistakenly check my phone therefore, I had to start over. The sound walk was experience was eye-opening really because the sounds you hear are you wouldn’t normally hear because your mind is focused somewhere else. As I walk around the typical sounds you hear in New York City; the sounds of cars engines, the cars honking their horns, other people’s conversation, people soliciting tourist for a bike ride through Central Park, the sound of the horses. A weirdest thing I’ve was sound of the wind. This exercise made me looking for thing that I could hear things but not see. Yours ears are really more powerful than you think. The sound walk really makes you utilize your other sense. Of course the sound of a neighborhood varies depending on the time of day. The sound that was most unique to me was the sounds of animals. The sound of animals was so unique because you realize that the sounds that they make are their form of communication.
